Choosing Your Veil and Bridal Accessories

Choosing Your Veil and Bridal Accessories

Your veil is not an accessory in the way earrings are. It changes your outline, your movement and the shape of every photograph taken from behind you.

Length sets the mood

A fingertip veil is soft and easy to wear all day. A chapel veil pools gently behind you. A cathedral veil is pure drama and needs space, a helper and a plan for the reception.

The edge matters more than the length

A raw cut edge disappears and lets the gown speak. A beaded or pearl edge frames you and repeats detail from the bodice. A full lace border makes the veil the statement, in which case the gown should stay quieter.

Weight and comb placement

Long veils are heavier than brides expect. Comb placement should be planned with your hair stylist so the weight sits on the crown rather than pulling from a low bun.

Modest styling

Veils work beautifully with hijab and with fully covered gowns. We often make a matching veil in the same lace and tulle so the layers read as one considered look rather than two separate pieces.

Everything else

Capes, detachable sleeves, overskirts, belts and headpieces let one gown become two looks between ceremony and reception. It is often the most satisfying part of the design.
