How to Look Like Yourself in Your Wedding Photographs

How to Look Like Yourself in Your Wedding Photographs

Long after the flowers are gone, the photographs remain. We design with a camera in mind without ever letting a gown become a costume.

Necklines frame your face

The line closest to your face does the most work in a portrait. A high neck lengthens, a soft sweetheart under illusion tulle softens, a boat neck widens the shoulder line. We test this in the mirror at the fitting.

Texture beats flatness

Cameras love texture. Lace, pleating, pintucks and beading catch light and give a photograph depth. A completely flat matte gown can read plain in the wrong light, which is why finishing details matter.

Think about the back

During the ceremony most guests and half the photographs see your back. A beautiful back is one of the best investments in the whole design.

Movement makes the picture

Fabric that moves gives your photographer something to work with. A skirt that lifts in the breeze or a train that trails behind you creates the images brides remember.

Be able to breathe

Nothing shows in a photograph faster than discomfort. A gown that fits properly lets you forget it, and that is when the honest pictures happen.
